Here are a few sets of words that mean the world to me...
"Near the rose, in this grove of sun-parched, wind-warped madrones Among the half-dead trees, I came upon the true ease of myself, As if another person appeared out of the depths of my being, And I stood outside myself, Beyond becoming and perishing. A something wholly other, As if I swayed out on the wildest wave alive, And yet was still. And I rejoiced in being what I was." (Theodore Roethke)
"During each of our journeys, there are those inevitable moments when someone comes into our life at precisely the right time and says or does precisely the right thing. Their words or actions may help us perceive ourselves more clearly, remind us that everything will turn out for the best, help us cope, or see us through difficult situations. These people are human angels - individuals designated by the universe to be of service to those in need at specific points in time. Some human angels make a commitment before their births to make a positive contribution to the world at a particular moment. Others were chosen by the universe. All human angels, however, come into our lives when we least expect them and when we can most benefit from their presence" (I found these words in Nav's billboard)
"No pretendo ser tu dueno, no soy nada you no tengo vanidad, de me vida doy lo bueno, soy tan pobre que otra cosa puedo dar
Pasaran mas de mil anos muchos mas, Yo no se si tenga amor la eternidad, Pero alla tal como aqui, en los labios llevaras Sabor a mi..."
"I don’t pretend to be your owner,
I am nothing I don’t have vanity,
Of my life I give the best,
I’m so poor what else could I give
More then thousand years will pass, many more,
I don’t know if there is love in eternity,
But there, just as here, on your lips you’ll take,
I copied this from Derek W's profile, my almost twin... ;-)
(The following was written by a black man in Texas. What a great sense of humour and creativity!!! )
When I born, I black, when I grow up, I black, when I go in sun, I black, when I cold, I black, when I scared, I black, when I sick, I black, and when I die, I still black.
You white folks.... when you born, you pink, when you grow up, you white, when you go in sun, you red, when you cold, you blue, when you scared, you yellow, when you sick, you green, when you bruised, you purple, and when you die, you gray. So, who you callin' colored folks?
A little about myself... I’m resilient & perseverant; a good woman with a big heart. Someday I’ll make a lucky guy a good life companion. I can be very mature about some things, & need some growing up in others. But who these days doesn’t need a little of both? I'm a smart, reasonably independent, mischievous & very playful Hispanic gal. I giggle a lot. I workout a lot. It keeps me in shape, sane and aging gracefully. I'm currently 34, plus two kids, and am college student that has decided to become a research writer. I sing in choirs and row occasionally. I cycle, ballroom dance, do yoga, and rock climb for fun. I'm a Mike Rowe fan at discovery !!
