So this is Suburbia..

this is it, is it?
land of the mucky-mucks.
 
Shiny New Suv's 
for a more country feeling.
 
Don't make me use my driveway,
i'd rather drive on your lawn.
 
Funny these Mucky-Mucks, 
i've seen before.
Yes these are the ones, i remember 
their space eating shells.
 
Once a day
 the mucky-mucks came 
to shed the shell
 to feast for a hour
on my little space.
 
And By the way...
just how much gas,
does this monster need
for you to spend the day
circ'ling me?

I cry for the Birds, playing overhead

who as they fly don't know

the trees they nest in

have turned to steel.

 

I cry for the Fish, bathing below

who as they swim don't know

The streams they breed in

have filled with oil.

 

I cry for the Squirrels, laughing nearby

who as they play don't know

The ground beneath them

has changed to stone.

 

I cry for the Moose, feasting all-around

who as they eat don't know

The forest they live in

has become Suburbia.
