The Catnip Papers by Zanada Green Maleki is ready for you!  This is a gotta read, must have book.

Did you know that catnip is not just a plant? The plant has lots of folkmedicine lore about it, but catnip is also the basis of a newly revealed holiday season of cats: Catnip!

The Catnip Papers even has a calendar to let you know when to start preparing for Catnip Day.  When to start?  Right after that hefty meal on the last Thursday in November, of course. In the USA, that's usually Thanksgiving Day.  In other countries, it s Thursday, as usual. Either way, that's when it starts. I could be wrong, if the cats changed the rules without telling me.  But it's in the book, The Catnip Papers.

Betcha didn't know what my true love gave to me on the 7th day of Catnip!  It's in the book.
Remember, to sing the 12 Days of Catnip only in its entirety on 2 days: on Catnip Day and on the 12th day of Catnip. The rest of the time, it's 1 verse a day.  Do you have your Catnip tree up yet?  Nothing fancy, just some bush you yanked out of the ground, like those dyeing chrysanthemums that go dormant if you don't take care of them. Recycle stuff and create a tree for Catnip!

Then, there are the other Catnip carols you just have to love, like: I'll be Home for Catnip! Then there is Jolly Old St. Kytty Claus!  ...and a host of other tunes you know, but the words are adapted for Catnip.

Remember to read with your kittens and cats
(and kids) the infamous 'Twas the Night Before Catnip and Such.  Lastly, you really need to meet the tale of how Catnip got started in the first place. It's in the Legend of St. Kyt.

Now for the real juice behind the book! November-December tend to be depressing for many people, it is easy to understand. People are upset, hard pressed by family and/or peer pressure to be jolly when they just don't feel it at this time of year. Some folks are just tired, or have seasonal affective disorder in the northern hemisphere where we see a little peep of daylight, and the rest is twilight and then dark. Add to that the press for buying for Hanukah, for Christmas, for etc. and etc.

I met some folks who are just tired of the gimme-gimme attitudes of their families. So they just gave up and turned into humbugs.

Some folks just need a holiday from holidays, and some just need something simple to celebrate to bring them back into a meaningful focus. So, we need to have a little laughter, and a little revelry fun with the cats. We can treat the ferral cats and the neighbor's cats to something wonderful. Ferrals prefer the wilds, no boundaries, but like a little tenderness too.

There is a huge need to get back into the "giving" mode. It costs nothing but our time and creativity to "give". Eventually we will reconnect the giving to people. Yes, we can walk with someone and their dog, yes, dog, during Catnip.  The cats will thank us for it. Cats can walk themselves, but just don't like dogs walking themselves because dogs get easily distracted and want to chase the ...cats!

What Gives Me Hope God!
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Walk softly on the Earth; mandate No Child Left Behind, No Teacher Left Behind, No Parents Left Behind, altogether, or someone gets the left behind, guaranteed.Can't have anyone left behind. In other words, parents enrolling their kids in public schools must sign a mandatory volunteer in public schools contract as well as fulfill their part of the contract.
Require conditional promotions.
Require year round elementary school opportunities, and the appropriate tools to carry out the plan.
Summer schools for elementary kids will fall into 3-4 categories:
1. Get caught up and pass the core courses Camp.
2. Gifted and Talented Camp.
3. Destination Imagination style learning inquiries Camp.
4. Language Learners Camp*
English/ French/ Spanish/ German/etc.
*=conversational and some reading

It gets right to the point of all the isms and reminds me to maximize the moment, get all I can from it right here, right now, because I won't have that moment again (similar saying in Micah:(paraphrase) Let me do what good that I can, let me not defer it nor neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.)
