I am a firm believer in the rights of all peoples and believe that America belongs to Native Americans first and foremost. The settlers from Europe took the land away from the First Americans and decimated their tribes with the diseases they carried from Europe. No one people is better than any other people. We are all equal. We all bleed red.
I am passionate about animals and their welfare. I hold the strong belief that we share this planet with them and they have as much right to their habitat as humans do theirs. I will do all in my power to protect animal rights and respect animals for what they add to our lives. I believe their spirits inhabit the afterlife and they are with us for eternity to make our lives richer.
I despise guns and war, but I do support our troops. I just wish there were no more wars so we wouldn't have to send our young citizens off to die. Freedom isn't free, but war is hell and I hope that one century in the future we as a species will have evolved enough so that war will be a thing of the past as different peoples discuss their differences verbally and come to peaceful agreements. One of my passions is the POW/MIA issue. As a country, we should never rest until we've done all we can to bring home all our warriors.
I believe this country does a disservice to both our veterans and our elderly. These people should be respected and revered and afforded all that this country can offer to make their lives easier. They deserve nothing but the best. The United States has not done well by them.
If we can all learn to live together harmoniously--humans and animals alike, then all creatures on this beautiful blue planet with truly be one.
Technically, closing in on senior citizenship, but I don't feel like it! I've been given a second chance at love and life and I'm doing my best to take full advantage of that. I consider myself compassionate and caring of all living creatures. Politically I consider myself a Liberal, although I must admit I've never been much of an activist. I appreciate the opportunity Care2 provides to take some action on things that are important to me.
I got my motorcycle license at the age of 54 and I'm looking forward to one day owning my own bike--when I can find one low enough to the ground. (I'm only 4'10"!
All living creatures should be treated with the same respect as humans.
What Gives Me Hope
New life and the promise that it holds.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Make the wealthy spend a week living as the poor live so they can truly understand what that's like. I believe that would have a lifelong effect on them and eventually the world might become a true global community.
What/who changed my life and why
My lifemate, Paul. In the 5th decade of my life, I finally discovered what love really is and what commitment to another human being can mean.
