As this page is quite new, I will be adding new information soon that will explain massage therapy for beginners as well as answers to common questions. In the meantime, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Ilse Rachut and I'm a professional massage therapist. I've been practicing for over five years; in which time I've treated hundreds of people for every ailment imaginable. There are many whom did not even realise that areas of their bodies were so bound up before the relief of healing transformed this numbing discomfort into that of lightness and freemotion. My philosophy of massage begins with caring. I don't need to know a person to care about him or her. Nurturing anyone comes from the well of caring that I have for myself and all humankind. It is through this sensitivity that each massage I give is a creative expression, inspired by the energy you possess.
I'm blessed to have been educated by some very talented and spiritually minded individuals. My first, Texas State required, 300 hours was with Texas Healing Arts Institute in year 2000. Buddist philosophy, and Chinese medicine theory were integrated into our lessons of physiology and massage from the western view.
I've since accomplished a further 256 hours at Lauterstein Conway to bring my education to National standards. This course included sports massage, deep tissue, structural bodywork, and Shiatsu, which I have since continued to study independently.
My work of the past five years has been primarily continuous, though I have recently returned from a six- month sabbatical in Europe, during which, i only fixed a poor backpacker's neck in Italy and a guitar player's hands in Spain.
Mainly, I just rode my bike all over the place, camped in a wee tent, and drank exceptional french wine. I know, life is sooo tough. The good news for you, is that I've returned refreshed and overflowing with the joy of life. My time there deepened my love of nature and my understanding (as well as that universal reverence, most certainly also named 'love') of people. As language and cultural differences have us reach further to understand one another, we appreciate so much more of our fellow man. Trust me, nothing's better at the end of a long day cycling the pyrenees, then a smiling face and the words 'bon courage!'
Now, you may know a bit of terminology regarding the different types of massage. These are the modalities been I'm adept at performing through practice and education.
Esalen-style (feathery, dance-like)
Really Really Deep Tissue
Most massages have a combination of these styles.
