I never believed before that anyone cared about my opinion on anything- (or anyone else's for that matter!)- but after my kids grew up and left home, I went to college (an opportunity I never had before). Then I learned about the difference "one person" could make when I took a "history of the civil rights movement" class and learned about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. and others. Since then I've come to be of the opinion that others speak up for what's important to them, so why shouldn't I? One day we will die and our voices will be permanently silenced. NOW is the time to speak up for the things that are important to us! I guess I would describe myself as someone being re-born. And just beginning to live!
Look out not only for our own benefit, but for the benefit of others. I believe God put us here to serve His purposes and not our own. He intends for us to take care of ourselves, our neighbor, and especially those who have no one to speak for them and protect them! Animals, the elderly, children- are not to be abused and neglected but cherished and protected. I also believe that when we have been blessed, we are accountable before God to also bless others. All the "rights" that people lobby for and fight for really wouldn't need to be fought for if we only listened to the Lord's counsel: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength- AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
LOVE does no harm- and every right anyone would fight for can be summed up and satisfied in that one command.
What Gives Me Hope
the comfort of God's Word and the Holy Spirit! And Christian friends who share my faith!
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Get rid of the corruption in government and big buisiness! Pour money into the "care & feeding" of our own poor in this nation instead of pouring it into "war effort" in foreign contries while our own people lack medical insurance, enough food, and housing! And I would take the billions that has been poured into Iraq and instead direct it toward the recovery of New Orleans from Hurricaine Katrina- and put measures in place that would cause rescue shelters to accept pets in times of disaster!
What/who changed my life and why
Jesus Christ. He showed me the power of love and forgiveness. He showed us all how to love!
