I am the mother earth, and you're a child to me,
Discover who you are and seek divinity.
Rocks and stones and clay and peat - all strata are a part of me,
Herbs and flowers, trees and shrubs, these are growing green on me,
Mosses, fungi, lichens, vines, all of these are seen on me.
Horses, cattle, pigs and deer, bears and loins roam on me,
Snakes and spiders, rats and slugs, all creatures have their home on me.

Bubbling brooks and silent springs, livng rivers flowon me,
Pools and puddles, lakes and seas, salty oceans grow on me.
Tiny tiddlers, mighty whales, scred salmon leap for me,
Sharks and squid and crabs and krill fill the waters deep for me.
Wrens and larks and crows and terns fill my skies with darting flight,

Hawks and eagels, bats and owls catch their prey my day and night.
Creeping worm and flying fox, teeming ants fulfil their lives,
In tune with me, in nature's way, as honey bees enrich my hives.
Only humans rob their kin, despoil the land, pollute the seas,
Kill for fun, destroy the woods, float poisoned vapours on the breeze.

But you can learn, as children should, to grow in peace beneath the sky.

We must never take for granted the love of a child, for it is truly a wonderful thing!



This past Saturday I was on my way back to work to finish my double.  Feeling sorry for myself and dreading the rest of my day,  I looked at the car next to me and saw a beautiful little girl at about the age of 5.  She gave me a huge grin and a wave that filled me with joy,  and completely inspired me.  She made the rest of my day!  She got me thinking about how amazing the hearts and minds of children really are.  They are not judgmental,   untrusting,   or hateful.   They see everyone as equal no matter their age,   color or gender.  They do not see religious differences nor do they care.  They simply see a soul in which to spread their happiness,  and give love to anyone who will accept.  We seek wisdom to find peace,   happiness,   love,   acceptance and understanding.  We seek to find what we knew as children and forgot.  I think all we really need to do is look inside ourselves.  We must not let our children forget,   and maybe they can change the world!
