Wild Fact About Me I love animals, but especially reptiles and amphibians. They are wonderfully sensitive creatures.
My Philosophy Forgiveness, because we are all only human. Keep going, even when things are tough, just put one foot in front of the other and keep taking steps. Listen and try to understand.
What Gives Me Hope Random acts of kindness. Friendship. Understanding. Love.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Haha! I like this question. When you get asked something like this you realize how hard it actually is. There are many things I'd like to change, but how? Not everyone will agree on what the most important thing is, and when you are a political leader you are meant to do what 'the people' want. But they all want different things! Well, if I had power I would do my best to listen to all the people and make decisions that seemed fair and right.
What/who changed my life and why There have been many. The greats, John Steinbeck, George Orwell, and actually Oscar Wilde. Steinbeck because he engages with the big moral questions of right and wrong, and humanity. The difficult acts of kindness in his books make me cry, and make my heart swell with hope for humanity. George Orwell because he was probably my earliest introduction to political thought, and the way that systems, structures, institutions of political power, become things unto themselves, often much more evil than the sum of their parts. Another book, Lord of the Flies is sort of about that too. Finally Oscar Wilde, because of the Picture of Dorian Gray which I read as a vain 13 year old. It frightened me so much at the time I couldn't bear to finish it. Nothing had shaken me like that until that point. I think it confronted me with the fact that we all have the potential for evil.
