If I were the governor of NC, the first thing I would do: overhaul and consolidate all the public transit systems so that public transit works for everyone, is energy-efficient, and appealing to use.
What/who changed my life and why
possibly Victor Hugo's Les Miserables or maybe George Orwell's 1984. I was young and growing up in a religious cult when I read these works. I think they influenced me to care about more than superficial preaching work, and to eventually get involved in the world in a more meaningful way, rather than by harassing people in their private homes with false "good news."
