Go raibh míle maith agat! (May you have a thousand good things! )
Started my new job as Library Director. Having a good time. A cold New England kind of time, but a good one. Sorry I've been out of touch. I'll be better. Everyone write to me, fill me in.
But on a personal note, an Update for everyone:
For the record, life is good, fun and all that jazz, but I'm sick of doing it alone. So I'm actively looking for that someone to enjoy life with.
Looking for someone who is any of these things: Charming, real, adventurous, open-minded, liberal, brilliant, secure, active, creative, artistic, laid back, wandering both in motion and in spirit. Someone who isn't afraid to speak out about things that matter. Someone who enjoys life and likes to be active. Someone who loves diversity and everything surrounding it. Someone who reads for enjoyment, hates heavy metal music and doesn't have alot of emotional baggage. Someone who loves to travel and experience new things all the time. Someone who prefers jeans and a t-shirt to anything else. Looks are not important at all. I am generally open to most things as long as I'm with someone who is like-minded (translation: no republicans) with a deep soul, a strong mind and an open heart who I can have an intelligent conversation with about anything. Please don't be into car racing or rodeos... please, I'm begging you. Someone with whom I share at least some mutual interests. This is an important factor for me. I've been in relationships where we didn't share any interests and it was really miserable. I am open to relationships with both women and men. Yes, I am bisexual, but that doesn't mean I need an open relationship. I'm open when it comes to gender, but I'm looking for strictly monogamous.
Me: Poet, playwright, journalist, Pisces, hate MTV, love coffeehouse music and jazz bars, Love backpacking and doing outdoorsy stuff. Animal rights and peace activist, feminist. I also love to quilt, as well as have dinner parties and play board games.
Please I ask of you these things:
1. Please don't be married.
2. Please don't be in this for a one night stand or a cuddle buddy with NSA, because I can't handle finding this out after the fact. It sucks. I'm looking for LTR. I'm looking for Ms Right, not Ms Right Now. So yes, if you're looking for a temporary fix, please be up front with that and move on.
Those right-to-life people would havea lot more pull with me if so many ofthem weren't cross-enrolled in theNational Rifle Association.-Dennis Miller
Reese Holdin: I just can't believe this is the same man who told his six-year- old daughter that Christmas was a Republican capitalistic conspiracy created by the Hallmark Corporation and that if Jesus were alive today he'd be down in Nicaragua rallying the Sandinistas. From Winter Passing
Harriet Michaels: Do you actually like haggis? Charlie Mackenzie: No, I think it's repellent in every way. In fact, I think most Scottish cuisine is based on a dare. - From So I Married An Axe Murderer
There is one theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what this universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is a second theory which states that this has already happened. -Douglas Adams, Restaurant at the End of the Universe
Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace. - Albert Schweitzer
"What is straight? A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it's curved like a road through mountains." -Tennessee Williams
"If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work. "Hello. Can't work today, still queer." - Robin Tyler
Let's see. Well, I'm a Peace Oriented Free Spirited Bookworm. Yep. As far as taxes are concerned, I'm a librarian, a poet, a playwright and a journalist who loves being on-line, but I am somewhat happier with a typewriter. I'm a pisces, and if you met me and talked to me, it would be obvious. I am an INFP. If you know what that means, you'll appreciate it. If not, well, just ask. I love basically everything in life, any music you wouldn't find on MTV, the arts in general, dusty books of poetry no one has ever heard of. I'm a true leftist on basically every issue, particularly gender issues and animal rights, though the environment is up there close to the top. If you have any prejudicial feelings towards any particular groups of people, or don't like animals, please move on. With this administration, you can quickly (they're not even subtle about it) see civil rights flying out the window. I'm a strong believer in the idea of voting with your feet (and/or your passport). I feel at peace in the outdoors, particularly while backpacking and love to travel whenever and wherever I can. I'm half buddhist and half pagan. The Pagan part is certainly only as an amateur armchair kind of thing, while Buddhism is more where my spiritual life is focused.
I am in search of the long and winding road that leads me to somewhere peaceful in thsi world, where people are treated equal and violence is not used as a solution to violence and where people are judged by the size of their hearts and not the size of their bank accounts. Anyone has any suggestions? ;)
There's a non-violent solution to any of the world's problems. And of coruse the age-old idea of treating people the way I would like to be treated.
What Gives Me Hope
Like-minded vocal people. And thankfully, George II's reign of error in Washington is over.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Revive the social programs we lost with the last administration and institute a program to socialize health care. I would start by getting rid of everyone in both houses of congress and starting over.
Hopefully, Obama will stand behind his words. I love that he is urging people to volunteer and promote community. He's got my vote certainly.
