EEK(Exceptionally Excited Kids)™ is a nonprofit organization for all children and young adults with disabilities. We incorporate learning, socializing, exercise, and family participation in a fun program for the kids and support for the parents.
The majority of children with disabilities are underrepresented in physical fitness and sports programs throughout the country. While most non disabled children are involved in several different sports, many children with disabilities are excluded from participation because of the high level of competition and emphasis on winning. Aside from an occasional special recreation program in a few scattered cities around the country, most children with disabilities are not afforded the same opportunities to participate in sports and recreational activities as their non disabled peers.
EEK provides the service of sports, recreation, socialization, inclusion and more in a non-competitive environment. Everyone has the right to be included. Kids with challenges and their families need to be supported in their efforts to participate in society without discrimination!
UNITY is the secret of social progress, and service to society is the means to promote it.
My name is Erica. I Co-Founded and Co-Direct a nonprofit called EEK with my friend Sue for people with disabilities - mostly children. My work is 24-7. My passion for disability awareness comes from my 7 year old daughter who has autism. I strongly believe in equality and integration for all people with challenges! See the ABILTY in disability!
I am one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do. (sums it up!) - By Helen Keller
