PURPLESPIRIT: Thoughts, Poems, & More
REMEMBER           BY JOY HARJO

Remember the sky you were born under,
know each of the star's stories.
Remember the moon, know who she is.
Remember the sun's birth at dawn, that is the strongest point of time. Remember sundown
and the giving away to night.
Remember your birth, how your mother struggled
to give you form and breath, You are evidence of
her life, and her mother's, and hers.
Remember your father. He is your life, also.
Remember the earth whose skin you are:
red earth, black earth, yellow earth, white earth
brown earth, we are earth.
Remember the plants, trees, animal life who all have their tribes, their families, their histories, too. Talk to them, listen to them.
They are alive poems.
Remember the wind. Remember her voice. She knows the origin of the universe.
Remember you are all people and all people
are you.
Remember you are this universe and this
universe is you.
Remember all is in motion, is growing, is you.
Remember language comes from this.
Remember the dance language is, that life is.
Remember.

by Joy Harjo. From her book "She Had Some Horses".

"The Problem Remains: how to cast the Devil from the hearts of swine?
"Since we're in an apocalyptic situation, old historical dialectics no longer apply. I prophesy that the only way to reverse apocalypse is white magic, because the apocalypse itself is incarnate black magic.

"What would be the effect of total sacramental harmonious shamanistic ritual prayer magic massively performed in the American theater? Exorcism!

"We need a million children saints adept at high unhexings, technological vaudeville, rhythmic behaviors, hypnotic acrobats, street trapeze artistes, naked circus vibrations-magic politics to exorcise the police state. Is there a kind of poetry and theater sublime enough to change the national will and to open up consciousness in the populace? If the direction of the will can be changed and consciousness widened, then we may be able to solve the practical problems outlined: ecological reconstruction and the achievement of clear ecstasy as a social condition. And once that is achieved, people could relax and start looking for the highest, perfect wisdom."

Quoted from ALLEN GINSBURG, one of my favorite poets - a true luminary, in a 1968 interview published in Playboy, April 1969.

poem (by me)

Do you Love the air you breath, the water you drink, the smiles you see?

Do you care about the small ones? the unseen? the intricate, the wonderous?

When we see these images
feel these feelings
the muze is here
inspiration
let it flow
inside and out

Wild Fact About Me Sometimes I walk around the house singing silly, make it up as I go along songs in my Frank Sinatra voice (not so good). Wait a minute, that's not wild...that's a bit dorky actually....hmmmm, lets see, oh yes....Sometimes, usually after midnight, I will light candles, burn sage, and dance to funky tribal jazz music in my living room...and I like to skinny dip on hot summer nights...

If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Work to start real Democracy in America. As both major parties are funded by and controlled by the very same big businesses, I think we need democratic reforms in the USA such as publicly financed elections, free and equal media time and candidates, easy voting registration, etc. And Cleaning up the Environment, promoting sustainable communities, and halting the loss of species and habitats would be Priority Number One.

    Hey Joe,
Don't worry, the purpose behind the comment was to say, "I thought about you" and hopefully bring a smile to your face.  You don't owe me anything in return, my thoughts don't require a response, just be happy. I don't keep score, you're my friend and that in itself is a wonderful gift.

    Kudos
