I'm here because I want to make a difference any way I can. Because this website and the many people who are part of it give me hope and inspire me. Because I want to build real friendships and connect with others who share my interests and passions. Hopefully in turn I can spread that same hope I recieve and maybe share some smiles and laughter on the way. I love the ocean, the woods, autumn foilage, dining out, good food, movies, music, museums and history. I'm passionate about helping wildlife, the Earth, and raising awareness. I enjoy listening to music - especially jazz, big band, disco/dance, easy listening - (Nat King Cole etc.), and some blues - lanscape design - both for beautification and wildlife - and making people laugh.
I'm very serious about what I believe in. At the same time - I love having a good time, and like to make people laugh. I want to enjoy every day, live life to its fullest, and make the most of every opportunity to make the world a better place while having a great time doing it. I'm always looking for adventures or new things to explore. Of course I've had to temper some of that "itch" so as to make a living. I have your typical New York accent - though I've lived in Georgia since 1986. Hey - I had to hold onto something. The kids I teach get a kick out of it. What else - oh yea - I'm shooting to make it to '100' and look like Jack LaLane at '95'. I need some time to do all the things I'd like to do. Hey - don't we all?
My actual first name is Emile. My parents dropped the 'e', due to the fact that they were concerned that people might pronounce it "Emily". Most people now know me as "Rick". How did I get that from "Emil"??? I didn't. When I move from New York to Florida (I was 16) I wanted a new start and frankly I was tired of people butchering my name. I needed a common run-of-the mill name. I've tried to change back several times but its always more hassle than it's worth.
My Philosophy
Today is a gift, tommorow isn't promised. Live like it. "Carpe Deum". Live out your dreams. Live and give as you would want everyone to do.
What Gives Me Hope
