My name is Elana and I live in suburban Chicago. Currently I am attending the local college and don't really know where to go from there. My interests include video games, comic books, movies, music, spirituality, animals, nature, altruism, philosophy, being with my friends, and a number of other things.
I like to learn - a lot - and spend a great deal of my free time trying to attain as much wisdom as I can. I like to read and when I'm online I try to make it into a learning experience as much as possible :)
I've always had a special affinity for animals and all of nature. The animal that I love most of all is the wolf. I try to involve myself in activities that are charitable and/or beneficial to some cause or the world as a whole. I'm a very spiritual person and I like to spend time meditating or just pondering the deeper aspects of life. I like a lot of pretty artsy stuff, too :)
I occassionally write stories and poetry, although I haven't really sat down and done so for a long while. I like to draw when I get the chance as well, but I feel my talent for that has all but disappeared over the years... along with my singing voice.
I also like computer-type stuff. I can be pretty tech savvy sometimes.
My favorite movies tend to be comedies, but I also like a good action movie, a thriller, mystery, etc.
My musical taste tends to be pretty eclectic (meaning I like everything except for most rap and country), but my preference is anything that leans towards rock.
I like to read books, and buy them quite frequently, although I usually don't have time to read novels anymore. When I do, though, I enjoy fantasy stories, comic books, books that are informative/make me think, or are just overall entertaining :)
I love Nintendo and played my first Nintendo game when I was two years old. I've been part of the Nintendo "family" ever since. My favorite console is still the SNES, and my favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. So much sentimental value :) The Zelda series is my favorite on the whole, but I have a lot of other favorites, too. I consider myself an all-around gamer, having played many games on many different systems, even a few on the non-Nintendo ones (gasp! ;) although serendipitously I only own Nintendo consoles at the moment). I play some PC games, but overall I tend to be biased towards disliking them.
My dream is to have a career, my *own* business, that will allow me to travel all around the world and hopefully do something good and worthwhile. It's a really big dream so I'm not quite sure how to pull it off. A mundane and overly settled lifestyle would never suit me, so I'd better figure out my master plan soon. I want to do something with animals, or at least for the animals (an animal peace corps.?), but I've toyed around with some other career ideas in my time. Archaeologist, singer, animator, veterinarian (exotic), and game designer/programmer have all crossed my mind. Right now I'm seriously considering some kind of environmental science career. My main goal in life is to help the animals and the natural world on a large scale, so I suppose a career involving environmental conservation would satisfy that.
In short, my goal: a life of adventure, spiritual living, and being able to do some good in the world.
