In Loving Celebration of Dad’s Life.

                      Jun.17,1929---Jan.3,2008

        He is being loved & is being missed dearly.

  Dad thank U for ....   
letting me bury my face in your arm on that roller
          coster ride I felt so (daddy) safe,  
              how pets should be cared for,
      sharing your love & knowledge of nature
            (mother earth, animals, insects)
                  & passing that gift to me, 
      those walks in the woods around the lake, 
                 lovingly teaching me to drive,
     teaching me how important water is to all,
 that talk we had the night before I got married,
                          U know Dad,
I really didn't know that U truly loved me till that
                                  night.
I was to young to see that the way U provided for   
                       us was U loving us.
        (U didn't share your feelings much),
Comming to get me every day after work so I would
                                (could)
         eat when I was pregnant with Davy,
when U took care of Davy & loved him so he could   
                          feel a daddy.
when U babysat my children so mom & I could shop 
                & have time for ourselves.
still sticking with me when I was so consumed in my        
 addiction (& I know I was working your last nerve),
that middle of the night phone call I made to U when
    I was ready to give up & do away with my life,
                  U gave me your hear & 
                 saved my life that night.
(I never told U how important that phone call was.)

  After that I lost touch, I guess U already knew,
           I had lost touch with my whole life. 
       I was so ashamed of what I had become.
             I couldn't see getting better.
       Several years pasted me by (Living Dead)
                      Then God stepped in,
got me clean & I worked very hard to heal & change.
                 I called U only on holidays, 
  It was so hard for me to hear your ageing voice,
 & I was doing me. I felt alot of things inside me
              & was learning to feel again
       & how to deal with life in a healthy way.
When I called U, U always said good words to me
           & didn't rub my face in my mess 
                I expected U to, U didn't.
                 Every time I talked to U
           I could hear your growing older.
             I would be very sad because
I knew your time on earth was getting shorter
           & I couldn't deal with that yet. 
                          I was selfish
& wasted some great getting to know U time.
           When we found out U were sick, 
         I knew what I had already missed.
        I wasn't going to miss anymore time.
                         Thank U For....
Welcoming me back with open arms & forgiveness.
   I am so grateful we had those wonderful talks 
                           I'm glad I got.....
    to tell U about my God & what God gave me,
           that I would support your decisions,
                to say I love U many of times,
                         & tell U "I'm sorry".

              I'm glad we got to visit together,
                talking & holding hands,
               share some hugs & kisses.
                It was so hard to leave.

             I still have that last get well card
             I decided not to mail that morning. 
                Daddy I know U were hurting.
            I'm glad U passed over peacefully
& U had Mom, Tim & Shirley  with U to walk U home.
                    I feel U still very alive.
          I see the birds Dad, Thank you.
                     I'm missing your voice.
       Most of all thank U for being my Daddy !!!

                                           or the date at the end ......

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her "beauty tips?" It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness...For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone... People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
