my name is Rebecca Wiles (Thomas). I love to write poetry. I have been doing so since I was 14 years of age, which has been quite awhile back. It has always been an outlet for me, for I tend to initally hold all my feelings back. I love to garden and I love everything about wolves and I absolutely love star-gazing! Nearly every night I go out under the stars, for they are a source of inspiration for me! I love to inspire people and I hope to meet a lot of new friends here on care2! I have already met a couple of really special ones that I am sure will last a life time! I now have a new website at this address: http://beccas-corner.tripod.com/ please come in and enjoy!!! ;) And here is my dog Shasta's website..please have a look.http://www.pets.ca/petsites/viewpet.php?petid=4449
I have also started, since last month, home-schooling my five year old. The school he went to was filled with chemicals and sending him into bronchial-like infections.. I am new at home-schooling and if anyone has any great, inspiring and creative ideas for a kindergartener I would love to hear it! My email is: firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you for visiting my page and I hope you feel inspired!
Spring in War Time
I feel the Spring far off, far off, The faint far scent of bud and leaf-- Oh how can Spring take heart to come To a world in grief, Deep grief?
The sun turns north, the days grow long, Later the evening star grows bright-- How can the daylight linger on For men to fight, Still fight?
The grass is waking in the ground, Soon it will rise and blow in waves-- How can it have the heart to sway Over the graves, New graves?
Under the boughs where lovers walked The apple-blooms will shed their breath-- But what of all the lovers now Parted by death, Gray Death?
Strephon kissed me in the spring, Robin in the fall, But Colin only looked at me And never kissed at all.
Strephon's kiss was lost in jest, Robin's lost in play, But the kiss in Colin's eyes Haunts me night and day.
" So easy a caveman can do it, and so hard modern man can't do it!"
"Cavemen are people too!"
"I have Cherokee blood in me. I have just enough white blood for you to question my honesty!"
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness; but still will keep a bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing."--John Keats
"A wee child toddling in a wonder world, I prefer their dogma my excursions into the natural gardens Where the voice of the Great Spirit is heard in the twittering of the birds, the rippling of the mighty waters, and the sweet breathing of flowers. If this is Paganism, then at present, at least, I am a Pagan."--- Zitkala-Sa
"See how nature- trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls." -Mother Teresa
We're the bridge across forever, arching above the sea, adventuring for our pleasure, living mysteries for the fun of it, choosing disasters, triumphs, challenges, impossible odds, testing ourselves over and again, learning love and love and LOVE! ~ Richard Bach (from "The Bridge Across Forever") ~
You have not lived a perfect day, even though you have earned your money, unless you have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you. ~ Ruth Smeltzer ~
"Make yourselves nests of pleasant thoughts none of us yet know, for none of us have been taught in early youth, what fairy palaces we may build of beautiful thought -- proof against all adversity. Bright fancies, satisfied memories, noble histories, faithful sayings, treasure houses of precious and restful thoughts, which care cannot disturb, nor pain make gloomy, nor poverty take away from us -- houses built without hands, for our souls to live in." --- John Ruskin
I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life ... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
~~Henry David Thoreau (Dead Poets Society)
By Sara Teasdale
Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.
Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.
Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." --Ralph Waldo Emerson
"We say we love flowers, yet we pluck them. We say we love trees, yet we cut them down. And people still wonder why some are afraid when told they are loved!" --Anonymous
The warmth of another's eyes, the fresh scent of rain on a hot summer's eve ? moments like these renew in us a heartfelt appreciation for life. ~~ Gwen Weising
"The supreme state of human love is the unity of one soul within two bodies"
~ Sri Aurobindo
"And when one of them meets with his other half, the actual half of himself, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other's sight even for a moment."
Plato 2,500 years ago...
Weed - a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered. ~~Ralph Waldo Emmerson
"All that glitters is not gold. All who wander are not lost."-- William Shakespeare
TWILIGHT REPOSE Meanwhile, let us have a sip of tea. The afternoon glow is brightening the Bamboos, the fountains are bubbling with delight, the soughing of the Pines is heard in our kettle. Let us dream of evanescence, and linger in the beautiful foolishness of things. --- Kakuzookakura "As a snake shakes off the old, so shall I, and look ever forward to the new!" Rebecca Wiles
It is easy enough to be friendly to one's friends. But to befriend the one who regards himself as your enemy is the quintessence of true religion. The other is mere business. -Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948)
IF I HAD MY CHILD TO RAISE OVER AGAIN.. I'd finger paint more, and point the finger less. I'd do less correcting, and more connecting. I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes. I would care to know less, and know to care more. I'd take more hikes and fly more kites. I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars. I'd do more hugging and less tugging. I would be firm less often, and affirm much more. I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later. I'd teach less about the love of power, And more about the power of love! Diane Loomans
SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY
She walks in Beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellowed to that tender light Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express, How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!
Sigh no More
Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more, Men were deceivers ever; One foot in sea, and one on shore, To one thing constant never. Then sigh not so, But let them go, And be you blith and bonny, Converting all your sounds of woe Into Hey nonny, nonny. Sing no more ditties, sing no more Of dumps so dull and heavy; The fraud of men was ever so, Since summer first was leavy. Then sigh not so, But let them go, And be you blith and bonny, Converting all your sounds of woe Into Hey nonny, nonny.
THE PHOENIX By Rebecca Wiles
Beautiful, glorious and sacrificing self for renewal, you build a pyre and set yourself ablaze. For the sake of self. Red bird of fire you come forth through your ashes a new bird shedding the old self which no longer is needful. You embrace your new strength and fly to the heights of the sky to the city of the sun and give the ashes unto the alter of the sun god for your immortality. Embrace yourself for you are a child of the sun and will live eternal through birth, death, and renewal! The spirit never dies!
KEEPERS OF THE TEMPLE By Rebecca Wiles
What love the gods have, with fire in their eyes.
Keepers of the temple, and very, very wise.
Their home in the skies from whence they came,
lights up the night with it's mystical flame.
They left us their symbols and legends of lore.
Their mystical presence in jewels that they wore.
The crowning glory of their fights and their deeds,
and a stamp of their footprints in the soil and weeds.
Now you can see them on the river they sail,
up in the cosmos from whence they first fell.
Looking down upon us, like gods on their throne.
In the still of the night we are never alone.

I once poured bubble bath into my aunt and uncle's pool!! They were not appreciative either

Let the people of this world decide for themselves what government and religion they choose... It is not so much how we believe but that we all get to the same place eventually! Let each one take their own path to God!!!

Buzzy Wuzzy had to die,
You ask why!
Because Buzzy Wuzzy flew right by
