My passion is truth. What is the absolute bottom line? I am a student of Christ God, through 1) active participation in the worship life of the ancient eastern Orthodox Church, the best-kept secret in the 21st century and the true, indigenous church and 2) on-going study of A Course In Miracles. For many years I've devoted my talents to a wonderful art-based family business which I loved dearly. With recent economic challenges, I am refocusing on my gifts: writing, visioning and design. I am now ghostwriting books for people with important messages to publish, particularly on matters of health, spirituality, peace and positive transformation.
We need to occupy ourselves; the source of all of our problems, and all of their solutions, lie within us. We need to be still and quiet within. Love is the answer.
What Gives Me Hope
The light of God shining in the eyes of children, animals and the rare saints in the world. The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostomos and my patron, St. Basil the Great.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Mayor: hold monthly community potluck suppers with guest speakers on a variety of edifying topics; ban use of harmful chemicals within city limits; create a Seven Generations Advisory Council made up of members from all standing committees, spiritual leaders, elders, and students
What/who changed my life and why
Since childhood I have been a seeker of truth. Many truths are disturbing. By my mid-teens I became disillusioned with organized religion and humanity in general, coming to eventually view our species as a blight, a plague, an anomoly, possibly even an alien, on the earth. I always believed in God, had always felt protected, but I disavowed religion. I explored Buddhism, Taoism, and ultimately was most attracted to Native American spirituality, which I read about voraciously. Then, late in 1997, I had a series of profound spiritual experiences surrounding the death and funeral of my father-in-law, which awakened me to my soul. After a conscious decision to seek spiritual guidance, a friend gave me a first edition copy of A Course In Miracles, which I began studying at the same time I began attending the Orthodox mission church my in-laws had helped found. Through ACIM I learned how to forgive and release my long-held grievances. Once I did that, the Divine Liturgy and kingdom of God opened up. The beauty was astonishing. I was Chrismated in 1999, and with every year that passes, the richness, depth and truth of Orthodoxy amazes me.
