Codie's Save the Seals Campaign:My daughter has gotten many kids from her middle school involved. It is absolutely wonderful to see the dedication they show towards a cause they believe in. Their parents are supportive of them as well, and many have signed Codie's petition and pledged to boycott Canadian seafood, and any company that supports the seal slaughter in any fashion. As much as we have hoped that this year there would be no slaughter, it happened anyway, and we will have to carry on our efforts for another year. Why can't people just see that fur belongs on the animal that was born with it?
"If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons." -- James Thurber
Life is as dear to the mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not to die, so do other creatures. -- His Holiness The Dalai Lama
Ever occur to you why some of us can be this much concerned with animals suffering? Because government is not. Why not? Animals don't vote. ~Paul Harvey
Why should man expect his prayer for mercy to be heard by What is above him when he shows no mercy to what is under him? ~Pierre Troubetzkoy
Hunting is not a sport. In a sport, both sides should know they're in the game. ~Paul Rodriguez
I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her. ~Ellen DeGeneres
In an earlier stage of our development most human groups held to a tribal ethic. Members of the tribe were protected, but people of other tribes could be robbed or killed as one pleased. Gradually the circle of protection expanded, but as recently as 150 years ago we did not include blacks. So African human beings could be captured, shipped to America and sold. In Australia white settlers regarded Aborigines as a pest and hunted them down, much as kangaroos are hunted down today. Just as we have progressed beyond the blatantly racist ethic of the era of slavery and colonialism, so we must now progress beyond the speciesist ethic of the era of factory farming, of the use of animals as mere research tools, of whaling, seal hunting, kangaroo slaughter and the destruction of wilderness. We must take the final step in expanding the circle of ethics. ~Pete Singer
Get a feel for fur: Slam your fingers in a car door. ~Anonymous, on the use of steel traps to capture fur-bearing animals, cited in Audubon, November 1990
Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made [man] is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one... That possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~Mark Twain
I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't.... The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. ~Mark Twain
I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence. ~Mahatma Gandhi
Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar. ~Bradley Millar
Because the heart beats under a covering of hair, of fur, feathers, or wings, it is, for that reason, to be of no account? ~Jean Paul Richter
If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men. ~St. Francis of Assisi
I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals. --Gary Larson
I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being. --Abraham Lincoln
The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity. --George Bernard Shaw
I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the "lower animals" (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me. -- Mark Twain
I am a happy, single mom (my daughter is my whole life, and I would do ANYTHING for her)
I was born with a genetic heart condition that limits my ability to run around and do all the things I used to take for granted, so I have learned to appreciate all the things I can do even more.
I have many causes that I feel strongly about... my opinions come from all the research I have done, and I always research both sides before I form my own opinion.
You will never win an argument with me, not because I am mean or a self-proclaimed bitch, but because my opinions are formed by research and my own beliefs... this means they are all mine.
I will not back down from my stance.
What I will do is agree that you have a right to your own opinion, but ask you not to try to change MY mind, or force your beliefs on me.
I am not anti-religion, although sometimes I may come across that way. I just don't believe that anyone of any religion should be forcing their beliefs on any one else.
I am pro-choice... that does not make me pro-abortion... it means that I don't believe that anyone should be forced to have a baby they don't want. This is not an arguable stance...
I am against animal culls... if you want to know why, ask me...
I am against dog fighting, bull fighting, hunting or any other "sport" where one participant is unwilling.
I am also well aware of the cruelty that goes on in America to animals, and YES I am against this as well... but while I am fighting animal injustices at home, I can also be against the treatment of dogs and cats in China and Korea, and the stray animal populations in Greece and many other countries.
I am against the aerial gunning of wolves.
I am against inhumane treatment of people... I think Darfur is a shame the whole world should bear... I think the world should be ashamed of what happened in Rwanda in 1994.
I am against any cruelty to children...
I discipline my child and think others should raise their children to respect the rights of others... and yes that includes the rights of animals

Dear Heaven I am short of shocked when I came here today to find that Charles has passed on to a better place than we. From correspondence with Charles prior I thought all was well. I am so grateful you were with him, what a blessing. He is a wonderful soul, and I am fortunate to have known him. My heart goes out to you, Donna and family and friends left behind.
