Charity Begins at Home; Please Spay/Neuter animals you feed
With all the wonderful causes supported by Care2, it can be easy to overlook our loved ones and neighbors who need our time and attention just as much. Please remember to play with your own children and animals each day, do something nice for someone in your household who could use help, smile and wave at your neighbors, or say, "Good morning" to strangers who cross your path. Try to slow down a little and give matters at home and in your own back yard the care needed. Remember that it's not life that distracts from your computer work; it's your computer work which can distract you from your life, family, and home.
That said, I am a humane volunteer who lives in Terre Haute, IN. I helped bring a low-cost Spay/Neuter transport service to my area, and it is responsible for spaying and neutering about 35 animals each month. I also helped revitalize interest in spay/neuter assistance in my community. I volunteer with my local "open door" shelter, doing anything from driving rescue transports, bathing animals, and helping with special events to allowing them to give my home phone number to anyone who needs assistance with spaying and neutering their animals or information on an animal welfare issue. I designed and maintain the website for the Spay-Neuter League. I also network online, trying to help bring services to the people and animals which need them.
If you get nothing else from me, please ponder these two points:
1. Charity begins at home.
2. Spaying and neutering your animals is good for the animals, you, and your community.
I communicate best with dogs, cats, or in writing. I am a confusing combination of knowledge and naivety. Where I lack sophistication and worldliness, I exceed in sincerity and passion.
I have an amazing ability for finding things. I could find a contact lens in a swimming pool or a flea on a dog in my sleep. The exception is finding subtle errors in numbers or codes (like accounting, programming and mathematics).
My Philosophy
Charity begins at home.
What Gives Me Hope
The decrease in shelter euthanasia around the country, the decrease in strays in my neighborhood, wagging of a dog's tail, affectionate purring of a cat, and seeing a young child show a keen understanding.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Revive or replace severely burned-out or harsh, careless government employees.
What/who changed my life and why
Boot camp changed my life because I learned what freedom really means, how to survive in adverse situations, and that I am capable of more than I thought possible. I also learned about sleep deprivation and control.

Speechless and blushing. But yes, when people who obviously have not read a book (or yet seen a movie) start screaming 'boycott' or 'censor', I get very, very annoyed. Freedom of thought and expression are too valuable to be surrendered lightly.
