A bloody do-goodertype to the bones. My dad was a social worker. I thoroughly blame him and his lesbian-feminist-social-worker friends for making me go all googly-eyed over girls (and now boys too!!). In the mid-80's one decided to have a baby by herself, and then commissioned a series of nude black-and-white portraits of her in her supple, lovely, pregnant, glory, which she then proceeded to hang up all over her living room. I thought my head was gonna explode when she offered to show them to us. Had to race out of her house and pace around the park across the street distracting myself with the egrets fishing in its pond. So yeah. Wanna raise a gay? The stories are true!! Become a social worker and just add water. Anyway, I love the sound of my voice talking. I love the wind. I love lounging around in a park on a sunny day with someone special nestled under the curve of my waist. I love randomness and playfulness. And sweeping views. I loooove activist types....there's something especially appealing about a type who knows how to hang his/her own puppets. Um, I love making these little dating profiles with the knowledge only a privileged few will respond to them (file under: the sound of my voice talking). Love orange tabbies and kitties in general. And breathy singers. And list-making. Sing me a love song and I'm yours for....well, we'll have to see, won't we? Kind of a goof, but in an overanalyize-fret-fret-fret-giggle-giggle-r otfl kinda way.
Hmm....see that this has appeared on my general page. So yeah, my social worker dad ruined me as an activist type. My quietly spiritual mother instilled a love for the unspoken beauty of nature and all things underdoggy. My grandparents made me snarky, bitchy, sensitive, and stubborn. Granny was a democratic activist who turned to conservative politics in her later years, dumbfounding my athiest dad and the hippie daughter which she managed to raise in the late 60's. We were ahead of our time. So I'm the product of that background and proud of it. Right now I want to start recording imaginings of gender variance by and for nonconforming people and the ones who don't get them. I like building bridges, although the legos tend to snap and spin into the air when I put too much on top of them. I try to remain open-hearted and open-minded, but sometimes I fail and say things that I later regret. I try to bring awareness of international plights out into the light, esp. within communities which are already inclined to stand up for rights in the first place. I believe that marriage and health care are HUMAN rights. I'm critical and suspicious of the state, even when run by someone as inspiring as our current leader. I'm in love with sounds. I'm fond of saying "I" but I'm trying to limit myself to 6 or 7 cups a day. I've demonstrated for marriage equality, networked with social workers working to secure mental health benefits for Iraq veterans (one of those causes which are just too hard for me to do myself). If you wanna tell me a story, and would like me to record and potentially publish it, hit me up in 6 to 8 months. I'm finding that my cyber persona has given rise to a very strong feeling for animal rights, tender hearts, nascent vegetarianism, and exotic veganism. I wanna do a food tour of Portland, OR, maybe next spring/summer. Also wanna work to prevent Referendum 71 from passing in Washington. I wanna strategize on GRASSROOTS (did I mention that I tend to yell online?) ways of winning marriage equality and gender-variant and trans rights in the US and Canada. I'm currently puzzling over our shared cultures, and kind of hoping that I'm not breaking an unspoken law of straightness on this site by cavorting with queer topics so much.

"O woman! Whose form and whose soul, are the spell and the light of each path we pursue. Whether sunned in the tropics or chilled at the pole, if woman be there, there is happiness too."
