Writing is my ruling passion. It's cool water when I'm burning. My voice when I can't speak. My scream when I'm afraid. My whisper when I must confide.

Another of my passions is my animals. I've shared my life with so many of them. I lost my dog, Aphrodite, this past November. She was 15 years old. Our last five years together she was an insulin-dependent diabetic and I gave her the shots twice a day. She knew she'd get a sugar-free dog cookie afterwards so always came running to me for them - tail wagging and mouth open in a tongue-lolling, doggy smile. I adopted her when I was 15 years old and she was (and will always be) one of my best friends.

There have also been an adopted Chinchilla (Elvis), Guinea Pigs (Scooter, Woodstock, Pumpkin, Hairold and Hamlet), and an Iguana (Iggy). All died of old age, and all touched and brightened each day of my life that I was lucky enough to share with them.

I now have three rescued birds. Foofer (cockatiel) and Oscar & Felix (finches), a Tetra Fish (Dennis), an Anole (Lucky) whom I recently discovered on my screenporch. He's missing a leg (he won't talk about it... but did briefly mention owing money to a loanshark). I'll be adopting a Guinea pig this summer.

My other passion is my friends. I've somehow lucked into having the best friends in the world.
