We must be aware of the real problems in the world.

Then, with mindfulness, we will know what to do and what not to do to be of help.

If we maintain awareness of our breathing and continue to practice smiling, even in difficult situations, many people, animals and plants will benefit from our way of doing things.

Are you massaging Mother Earth every time your foot touches her?

Are you planting seeds of joy and peace?

I try to do that with every step, and I know that our Mother Earth is most appreciative.

Peace is every step.

Shall we continue our journey?

About Me I'm an Australian living in a little cabin on a small island in Southeast Alaska. I have to take a boat to get to town or to work. We have solar and wind power, a generator for backup and our hot water is heated by a woodstove in winter (yep, no hot water in summer!) We are learning to provide much of our food needs ourselves - my husband hunts and fishes (we don't buy meat), I am learning to collect kelp, sea vegetables, mushrooms, berries and other wild foods that we dry, can, smoke and freeze for year round use.

Our aim is to be more independent of "the system" and to live ligher by consuming less and "doing-it-ourselves".

We are happy and simply delight in living life, doing the work that pertains to our own lives rather than selling all our time for money. I want to live now, not later, because you never do know...

Wild Fact About Me My island cabin used to be a float house - that's right, it was floating on a large raft on the ocean with a small greenhouse to one side! (With the way global warming seems to be going, perhaps I should have left it there...;-) in 2005 we moved in onto an island.
My Philosophy Freedom. Responsibilty. Acceptance. Thought. Happiness.
What Gives Me Hope People who eat organic food, reuse shopping bags, and think! (The thinking one comes first... ;-)
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by 1. Dissolve all big govt powers - "absolute power corrupts absolutely". The US is a big, powerful country and as a result it attracts corrupt people to run it. The govt should be a small, administrative organisation, with elections paid for by the public (not big business ie oil companies!). Total separation of Church and Business and State! Complete transparency! No tax except a basic consumption tax, out of this the govt would provide a few basic services but basically people would have to take responsibilty for themselves.
2. Encourage people to wait longer and to have less kids. The way our population is going we are all going to lose our quality of life when there are no more quiet places left.
3. Get back on the gold standard, having real money would change our consumer habits and the truth about wealth would come out.
4. Prosecute all the criminals who sent us to war, hold every lie accountable, including those told by the media.
