About Me mother of two extraordinary daughters, survivor/thriver of the sixties who carried the philosophy into the present, lover of the wild spaces like Alaska and the high Sierras. Also *blush* lover of Disneyland. Barely survived financial storm of last five years hung on by a thread. I wear my age very well and find myself enjoying the third chapter of life despite the perils of late. Wildly Progressive.

When I first saw a picture of Bette's son, his clinical depression was so clear to me. Guessing what Danny's tragic destiny had been wasn't hard as I have been battling those demons since my late teens.  I am not entirely sure how I have been a survivor.

Losing a child is a parent's worst nightmare and nothing I say can alter that fact. But Bette, every tree I plant in my life will be a tribute to your son's memory, with hopes for more research & accomplishments in this important field of medicine.  Truly, unless you've been there you can't, simply can NOT understand the agonies of the mentally ill.

I think that, given the fact that we never really know the deeper truths about most humans, the practice of compassion & kindness for all beings is a  preferable, humane way to relate to the community of mankind. The best medicine is the energy that flows from heart to heart - LOVE!
