I have a bleeding heart for almost any cause in the world. Unfortunately I can not help out everything I would like to and my inability to choose a specific mission has lead me to be very wishy washy. I hope to buckle down and find a few causes I would really like to work for. Things most important to me are human rights, it does not matter if a person is not covered under the constitution, everyone is born with rights. Also I have helped out with habitat for humanity before and I LOVE working with that organization because i feel I am really helping because it is so hands on. Finally I took part in something like a socrates cafe and I hope to start one here at ISU where i attend school.
I have been an amnesty international leader, on the board for the relay for life for 5 years, helped hout with hippotherpay, helped stretch the limbs of kids and teenagers with cerebral paulsy, pained a house through habitat for humanity, helped a community organizer fight crime in rogers park, helped out at a non kill shelter, and sang at nursing homes. I am proud of these accomplishments.
Don't judge other people even if they have made some bad decisions and don't deside what is best for other people.
What Gives Me Hope
I have seen first hand a family that was helped merely because I helped them paint their house. They were so appreciative. It was the first time i felt that I had actually helped someone because most of the work i do you don't really see the accomplishments you have made.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
not stick my nose in other people's business unless someone in need asked for my help.
What/who changed my life and why
kairos retreat because it shed a whole new light on other peoples lives and made me consider things about other i never had before. It helped me to be more openminded.
