Jim received treatment for his brain tumor on April 10th and is doing well. He gets headaches, inner ear pain, and still hears the unusual noises from the tumor being on the acoustic nerve. He has fatigue and a little dizziness. All in all, though, he's doing great. You wouldn't even know that he had a brain tumor unless we told you. His personality is completely intact, thank goodness. I love him so much the way he is and although I would stay with him not matter what, it's good that he still kids around and is as goofy and clever as he has always been.
We went to the University of Kentucky's Gamma Knife Center, which is one of the best in the country and has a lot of experience in treating his type of tumor. Dr. Byron Young says that Jim should be able to retain his current level of hearing, which is around 80% in his left ear and 100% in his unaffected ear.
We will not know whether or not the treatment worked for a while. The tumor needs to form scar tissue where it was radiated and will continue to grow until the scar tissue cuts off the blood supply. Hopefully when that happens, the tumor will stop growing and maybe even shrink. We're keeping our fingers crossed. We are going back to U of K for a followup MRI in Octorber and I'll let y'all know what we find out.

PHYSICALLY: I'm short and round, with long brown hair, dark brown eyes, and light olive skin. I'm a mutt, really; part Native American, part French-Mediterranean, and part North Irish.
SOCIALLY: I enjoy making new friends from around the globe. I enjoy learning about different cultures, religions, lifestyles, and people. I'm always amazed that even though we all have differences, we are so much alike in all the ways that matter in this world.
SPIRITUALLY: I am Pagan; an Ecclectic Kitchen Witch. I study health, herbal medicine and alternative methods of healing the body, mind and spirit.
EMOTIONALLY: I'm a good hearted person and although I believe in the good of everyone and prefer living in my fluffy bunny world where everyone loves each other, I do have a sarcastic and weird sense of humor that I pull out on occasion. Being warped is very high up on the list of qualities I look for in friends.
PERSONALLY: I'm retired from the medical field due to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and I spend a lot of my free time online. There's just so much to learn and do out there.
I am very approachable and complete strangers often talk with me and tell me their life stories. I have freakish spatial reasoning skills. I sleep in the nude. I'm a total klutz.
My Philosophy
Everything happens for a reason.
What Gives Me Hope
Love, kindness, friendship, family and the innocence, unconditional love and the wonder of children.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
I'd want to get people to think with their hearts, not just their minds, and to always do what is right and good.
What/who changed my life and why
One of my dearest friends, Rain, taught me to look inside myself for truth and educated me on many issues of which I was unaware. She also taught me to not care about the superficial things in the world and to love honestly and purely.
