About Me I guess I'm considered middle-aged now, though often still feel like an adolescent in search of my purpose in life. I'm a pediatrician at a medical school in charge of our pediatric residency program. I accepted the position to be an advocate for our young doctors, but find myself more of a paper-pusher and am currently unhappy and seeking "something more". I am passionate about helping New Orleans because I lost a friend to the storm and have other friends still struggling with the aftermath. Playing guitar is my stress-reliever. I love music passionately--rock, pop, indie, R&B, blues and jazz (though can't be considered an afficionado of the latter two...yet!)

Wild Fact About Me I hang out with The Cowsills (yes--THOSE Cowsills whom only boomers will recognize.)
My Philosophy Currently under construction, but in general I rarely see life in terms of "Black & White"...everything appears in shades of grey to me. I am still open-minded unlike most people my age. I believe in showing respect and tolerance to others, even when I disagree with their philosophy. I feel like I am in a minority in this regard.
What Gives Me Hope Children and music allow me to continue to have hope. Despite the sorry state of the world, I am still an optimist.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Universal Health Insurance...and no, that isn't the same thing as "socialized medicine".
What/who changed my life and why My friend who perished in Katrina because it turned my world upside down and made me realize how biased so many people are. I can't believe so many people feel the people of NOLA "got what they deserved", "were too lazy to leave", or "are only looking for handouts". There may have been SOME people who fit this category, but how can people generalize this way?
