About Me

I was born and raised in a rural part of the state of Florida, now I live in Georgia in a beautiful Atlanta metro area, with the person I love most in this world, Chris, and my two beloved cats Dexter and Tater.

I'm a Heathen (Asatruar). I'm a Vegan, for ethical reasons. I'm a geek. I love science, in particular astronomy and physics.

My hobbies consist of reading, at least a book a week; bouncing between sci fi novels and educational texts. I try to expand my mind every day and follow politics and current events. I have an adventurous spirit and enjoy living on the edge. Hiking on state trials & kayaking in the ocean are high on my list of activities I enjoy.

My Philosophy

Unrepentant Nihilist. Nihilism is NOT the 'belief in nothing'; it IS skepticism coupled with reduction, and furthermore it is the realization that artificial morality and values are subjective and that which is self-evident requires no belief, for it has an independent, objective existence.

Authority must be questioned, opinions must be backed up by evidence and supported by reason. Stupidity should be mocked and things should not be respected simply because they are a "tradition". In fact most traditions need to be torn down as they are outdated and illogical. Traditional morality is something to be overcome.

Personal empowerment requires a sustained, skeptical yet open-minded search for knowledge, and a careful avoidance of superstition, dogmatism, taboos, and other such cognitive pitfalls. Those who seek enlightenment fear no truth, for they know that ultimately the truth will help set them free.

What Gives Me Hope

To quote Richard Dawkins: "After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with colour, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?
