Painting is my passion! I am a fine artist, (my second career), and a reading specialist, (my first career). I taught four years in Argentina as a reading specialist, one year in Costa Rica, and one year in the jungles of Guatemala. My teaching background has prepared me for my life today which is painting and teaching others how to achieve their "personal best" in painting. I teach at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art, at Northwestern University, and occasionally lead international painting workshops. Tuscany, Italy and Eleuthera, Bahamas have been two previous painting expeditions.
I thoroughly enjoy traveling abroad and have explored China, Africa, almost all of Europe, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and most of South America, and drove my sports car down through Central America to Costa Rica.
I live with many indoor plants, a gardenia tree over 36 years old, many orchids, and many other plants raised from clippings or seed. I have a Moluccan Cockatoo, Houdini, who has been with me for over 25 years and an African Grey parrot, Spinner, who was given to me and has lived with me for the past 10 years. These two birds often share my painting studio space with me when I am creating. Mr. Belvedere is my 15 month old maltipoo. a rescued puppy that was going to be euthanized. He is the joy of my life and enjoys long walks along the lake front with me daily.
I am very grateful for my good health, all of the wonderful opportunities I have had in my life, and the opportunity to pursue my passion of painting.
Besides painting, I enjoy listening to many types of music, power walking, watching wildlife, domestic and international travel, collecting old ethnic beads and creating jewelry designs with them, going to the movies, reading, keeping in touch with my friends, gardening, and meeting new people.
