                                                                                                       Wild Salmon

The Skeena Wild Salmon has been a staple food item of the natives of B.C. , Canada for hundreds of years.  It has been a part of my diet for most of my 40 some years.  In the past decade due to a variey of reasons the availablity of the wild salmon is  dwindling.  Like most of our natural resourses it is facing extinction due to global warming which has changed the delicate environment by a steady change in water temperature, and a reduction in river water levels due to the depletion of the snow caps of the mountains.

Numerous organizations are establishing fish farms at the mouth of the major rivers of B.C. , which introduce farmed salmon that compete with wild salmon for scarce resources within its habitat.  Also, the farmed salmon has introduced the infamous sea lice that has attached itself to the wild salmon, rendering it inedible.  The lice are parasites that live on its host, the salmon, and weakens its system.

Wild salmon contain nutrients essential to the diet and ultimately to the survival of native people.  For example, while I resided in Vancouver B.C. for 13 years I subsisted on a diet of fast and overprocessed foods with the intermittent seafood dinner.  This prolonged diet of the modern western diet led to the deterioration of my health.  A myriad of ailments plagued me, such as :  lupus, cancer, arthritis, high blood pressure, premenstrual syndrome, depression, anxiety, and Long Q-T Syndrome.

I eventually returned to a small fishing village on the Bulkley River and resumed the tradition of hunting, gathering and consuming wild salmon, berries, and animals.  The symptoms of the aformentioned autoimmune diseases soon waned.  Although, the diseases are still present, they are now borderline, and manageable.

A reduction in severity of the depression was the most noticeable, due to the reintroduction of  the wild salmon to my diet.  The nutrients Omega-3 and tryptophan help alleviate the symptoms.  Depression was the most disabling of the illnesses that I had to battle because it manifested into autoimmune diseases that were difficult to manage with the cloud of depression lingering overhead.

About Me Lightworker, Fishwhisperer, Peacekeeper, Protector of Mother Earth

Resource of unconditional love for all of God's creations.

Born on a cusp: Capricorn-Aquarius

The Sea Goat, Capricorn, starts from the sea and ascends to the hightest mountain tops, working their way upward with every step.

While the path is not always smooth, their determination to succeed ensures they will persevere.

Aquarius, the Water Bearer, brings water to his people, and new ideas to the world.

It represents consciousness and the flowing of ideas.

Capricorn/Aquarians work hard to bring their ideas to fruition, stubbornly refusing to give up their causes.

These people are independent and individualistic, within the world but detached from it.

They are peace-loving and friendly.

The thought manifests as
the word.

The word manifests as
the deed.

The deed develops
into habit.

And the habit hardens
into character.

So watch the thought and
its ways with care.

And let it spring with love,
born out of concern for all beings.
