PROFILE:
“NomadWithoutBorders” (much more than Obama!): “a multi-cultural, multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-pursuits person with the multi-purple wardrobe”, (aka “GlobalNomad” / “DoctorPurple” / “LeisureDoctor” / “InDogWeTrust” / “CitizenWithoutBorders”). Native speaker of (the original) English, and educated in the UK, with EU passport. Fluent in US-American English and au fait in US culture/history/politics. Expect a simple response “When?” to the common US question, “Where are you from?” Do US-Americans know (or care) “where?” really is?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TRAVELS & WORK:
Has worked and lived, for over 20 years, on every continent except South America, travelling on an EU passport. While the most vital job was teaching Muslim, Jewish, and Christian children in Jerusalem, the most gratifying job was working with Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees on an Indonesian island (for the US Refugee Program).

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER:
Facilitating of “Civic Dialogue”; Organising of Community Events; Organising, Facilitating, & Moderating Public Forums; Organising & Hosting of “World Cinéma” & “Cinémathèque Culture”; Organising, & Facilitating of “International Social & Discussion Group” (for the International community), and “Table Conversations: Communication Relationships Around a Table” (for low-income families & women in the shelter from violence).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FORMAL EDUCATION:
The “plan” was to complete a quick graduate degree (at the School for International Training) to return to a refugee camp. Unfortunately, was seduced into academe at Smith College. Completed five graduate degrees, in three graduate schools in the US, (without any stress, ambition or purpose!).
PASSIONS:
Refugees & Displaced Persons; Leisure Counselling & Programming; Teaching (Adult/Continuing/Further Education, Colleges, Universities); Mediating & Negotiating; Global Politics & World News; International Programs; Interpersonal Conversations & Relationships; and Walks with (friendly, communicative) Gods..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SPORTS:
Participated in international “games/challenges/contests/matches” -- for Wales, Cyprus, and the UK -- in “Modern Pentathlon”, “Badminton”, “Squash”, “Athletics” (aka “Track & Field” in the US), and “Gliding & Soaring”. However, my ethic was NOT EVER competitive at all (in those events, my daily life, and my friendships/relationships, and even in my Doctoral studies). What passes for “sport”, especially in the US (or for that matter, in ANY professional or “national sport”) is completely alien to me, culturally and as a metaphor for learning about how to engage in life. The ideals of Baron de Coubertin clearly influenced my active participation, considered “archaic” now -- especially within US sports/society/culture in general. The “Olympic Creed” (as opposed to the “Olympic Motto”): “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is NOT to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is NOT the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is NOT to have conquered but to have fought well.” Since terminating serious training for these events, my life does NOT include watching sports or following scores, or even getting into a sweat!!! Instead taking long walk with (friendly, communicative) Gods is most therapeutic.
