This young woman's name is  Joanna Burke. On July 21, 2006, Joanna died in a tragic accident. She is seen here tending to one of her beloved friends,  Tina, who died on July 21, 2004, exactly two years earlier to the day. (Tina was born April 26, 1970).

Joanna and Tina are seen here together at the beautiful Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary (TES). The pink item hanging from the tree is still called "Tina's toy" and is played with by other elephants.


I do not believe that Joanna's life passion and her flame have been extinguished. She continues her work ~ just from a different place.
