I am a professional woman, well-educated, and well-employed (i.e., I can take care of myself financially). My work is meaningful to me but does not define me. I lean toward the left in terms of politics, religion, and values.
I am an avid reader and you can usually find 3-4 books "in progress" on my nightstand at any given point in time. Currently, I'm reading a biography of Edna St. Vincent Millay, a collection of the best short stories of the century (edited by John Updike) and a book about Kwan Yin, Buddhist Goddess of Compassion.
Some of my all-time favorite movies include Cinema Paradiso, Amélie, and almost anything inspired by a Jane Austen novel (okay, so I’m a romantic). I have eclectic interests in music but am particularly fond of jazz, world, and indie music.
I am not athletic in the traditional sense, but I do enjoy active leisure activities. I love to travel despite my fear of flying. A dream vacation for me would be a hiking trip in Switzerland, a cycling tour of France, or yurt camping on the Oregon Coast.
My friends would say that I am: Smart, practical, reliable, down-to-earth, and funny. I may appear aloof at first, but please understand that this comes from a place of modesty and shyness and not arrogance. On the dark side, I can be serious, stubborn, sarcastic, and a bit of a perfectionist, but I am learning to balance these tendencies with flexibility, patience, and the ability to laugh at myself. Yes, I can admit it when I am wrong.
Fine Print: I am divorced and am blessed with two amazing, young, children. I share joint custody with my ex and we are on amicable terms (really!). I would be open to having more children with the right person.
