Having grown up in a family surrounded by computers and access to digital information, I realized early on that a computer was a valuable resource that offered limitless opportunities. Passionate about technology and its importance in education, I felt it was my calling to offer a solution to the Digital Divide in Canada.
It is my goal to increase my donation numbers and surpass each year's success so that eventually no student in Canada is in need. STL operates on the basis that active computer users can use technology not only to make a difference in their own lives but also in the lives of their families and in their community.
What Gives Me Hope
My vision and the mandate behind STL is that by providing students with access to computers, online resources and technology, today's youth will be given the potential for enhanced success and a limitless window of opportunity to be whatever and whoever they dream of becoming.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
* Raise funds to purchase refurbished computers.
* Provide refurbished computers to students from under-resourced communities.
* Establish a mentoring and tutoring program to get the students up and running.
* Facilitate access to online resources, creating an awareness of the many learning opportunities available to students.
* Improve the students’ overall computer skills and develop their essential workplace skills.
* Reduce waste and recycle technology, thus reducing the technological waste-stream.
* Offer a solution to the Digital Divide in Canada.
