I'm in 9th grade English and we had to write a poem about something we love and something we hate. For what I hated, I wrote about global warming. I had to present it in front of the class and I got a 100% A+ on it. The thing that was important was that it got my classmates interested and they asked questions about global warming. I'm glad my poem helped raise awareness with my classmates! Here's the poem:
The thing I hate most is global warming, People should really start to take warning. The heat melts the glaciers which make the oceans overflow, Onto the land, where it really shouldn't go.
Oh, the polar bears and penguins, where will they live? Without the ice and glaciers, we have nothing to give. They will never last, And soon become a thing of the past.
How can we stop this horrible thing, Before our winter turns into spring? The sun shines again, warming up the Earth, We will cease to exist, cease to give birth.
We need to stop this terrible spread, Before the world comes to an end.
Once I start laughing, it's difficult to get me to stop =)
My Philosophy
What Gives Me Hope
Seeing the amount of things that are environmentally friendly increasing.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
Probably make the world less dependent on oil.
What/who changed my life and why
Leonardo DiCaprio because he inspired me to care for the environment and how dangerous global warming is. I would love to meet him someday and have a discussion with him, I feel I could learn a lot more by talking to him.
