Protect the Living Desert Meerkats!

This is Tulle, she is the dominant female of the Living Desert Meerkat family group. She has already suffered from the loss of her right front leg, due to a bone disease. She has also suffered through the loss of her first family from a den collapse. W 
This petition has closed and the signatures have been delivered to the Living Desert Zoo.   Thank you to all that signed, you help is appreciated.

The Living Desert Board of Directors is making plans to expand several of their enclosures, including the African Lion exhibit and the Meerkat exhibit.  They plan on placing them next to one another in an attempt to stimulate the Lions.  This will be too stressful for the Meerkats and will endanger their existance.  

It is a known fact that the Dominant female Tulle, has already been subjected to much stress in her lifetime, by being caught in a den collapse.  She has also been successfully treated for bone disease, which is why she appears in this picture, minus her right front leg.

Please Help Chico the Lone Meerkat at the LA Zoo.

Chico is the lone Meerkat at the Los Angeles Zoo. His burrowmate, Spanky, passed away last December, 2007. Chico has been in solitary confinement for eight months now and the zoo has not provided him with the companionship he needs and deserves. Many overtures have been made to the zoo to improve Chico's living conditions but have been met with bureaucratic smoke and mirrors. The zoo is a department of the city. 

Meerkats live successfully in groups and thrive in an environment that has sufficient food and companionship. All zoos are aware of this. Chico is fed kibble dog food and is overweight. This is appalling and the zoo is not meeting the needs of this animal.  He will be nine years old this year. Meerkats have been know to live up to 17 years in captivity in groups with a proper diet.
 
I am hoping to make everyone aware of his case and help improve his conditions or transfer him to a zoo that is more aware of the meerkat needs.
