Are you a writer or artist in Seattle? I'd love to meet you!

Just kidding. You are welcome to write me no matter where you call home or what you do.
Where you live or what you do for a living does not define WHO you are.   I do love being around other creative poeple.  I also love hearing from the British.   It is my heritage as well. My mother was English and my father Scottish.  My passion and life may be writing but some of my most memorable moments were spent with friends in England.

You can check out my various websites.  I have a bit of photography and graphic art at www.whitewolfmediagroup.com  and a creative community at www.artistsandwriterscafe.com is in the making.  At
www.healingwaterspress.com click on the "My Writings" button at the top and you'll come to my personal page where there are links to some of my work currently online. Other people's writings are there also.   You can find my poetry around the web on various websites like http://rhymster.com/members/Shirl_Steward/  I use to have a lot of work on poetry.com.  Unfortunately, I discovered recently that the URL has a new owner and the database is gone.   I'm on myspace, facebook, imeem, linkedin. and a few blog sites  If you can't find me, please email me.

NOTE: Sorry.
Most of these sites have not been updated for over a year so please bear with me. Also, I've been away from here as well for even longer. Please forgive me if you've written me a note and I haven't gotten back to you. please try writing me again at seattleshirl@clearwire.net and included something like 'saw your profile on care2' in header.   News: On my various blogs, I'll be writing on many issues including women rights and environmental concerns. Also, I do web design, photography, PR and writing professionally as a side business . Like I really have time, right?  Write me for more info.

I am accepting submissions for Healing Waters Journal future issues (send to email above or to healingwaterspress@gmail.com, NOT here).  I plan to start up the journal again if enough submissions are received.  Poetry, short stories, and articles about miracle consciousness (ACIM), spiritual or environmental topics would all be considered. Writings on starseeds, walk-ins and Indigo children are also acceptable since that is part of who we are! Also if you fall into one of these categories, please join me at the yahoo group WEECreate (listed as wee_create). It is a writing community for the spiritually 'different' or is that spiritually 'challenged'. LOL  (I have been very inactive with WEE but would very much like to reactive it.  Please write if you feel so inclined. )

To see a sample of my environmental writings, please read my poem The Time Has Come on my blog here or on my site at
http://www.healingwaterspress.com/shirlsteward_earth.htm

This is the theme poem I wrote for the EarthDays 1995 event. The poem was read on stage at the event held April, 1995 in Bethlehem, PA. I also performed it at the Town Hall in Glastonbury, England in early 1999.

It is written from the point of view of the suffering mother earth. She cries for her many wounded children and asks all to join in healing her.

The below poem is presented here as previously published in several journals with minor changes.

Namaste.

The All Inclusive We
I know not your face
yet we are brothers
on the same ancestral tree.
I know not your name
yet we are warriors
fighting for the same
seemingly
unreachable dream.
I know not your soul
yet here we are entwined
together, in the same
Earth vine, each feeling
hopeless, just waiting...
wondering if this veil
which separates
and hides our kinship
will lift
to reveal...
all the fibers
in...
the all inclusive we.

About Me Forever I've been an environmental activist . . . plus a very spiritual person, a poet and writer. I especially love writing stores for children that help them with critical life issues. I was the editor and a reporter for an environmental journal and also edited poetry page there. More recently, I work for The Santa Fe The New Mexican as a web editor. I'd like to start a spiritual center and publishing house somewhere in the west. Colorado comes first to mind but I am open to suggestions. Would love to meet others in the area of like mind . . . artists, musicians, writers or other spiritual people who just love being who they are! I'd love to collaborate with a musician or musicians to record a CD of my songs.

Part of the community is a web database/forum/meeting place. I need your help! Please write me at seattleshirl@clearwire.net and give me your ideas. Join me! The site is purchased and I have tons of webspace available for storage. It is www.artistsandwriterscafe.com. You can view older photos of me on the personal page of my webpage www.healingwaterspress.com.

My Philosophy All are equality created and deserved to be treated with equal respect. Every moment is a precious gift from God and an incredible opportunity to simply be everything we ever dreamed.
What Gives Me Hope People who are willing to fight for what they believe is right.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by I would totally eliminate political parties in favor of free elections where the people's choice could actually be elected. Equal but limited on air time would be given to all candidates. Advertising by a candidate would be prohibited and against the law. I'd also reduce elected officials salaries and pensions to be more comparable to a working professional . . . I'd also put a ceiling on salaries of doctors and lawyers . . . excesses would go into a fund to help the poor, to end public abuses and defend the wrongly accused. Oh, I'd also fire Bush for being incompetent.
What/who changed my life and why The Course in Miracles and other 'magical' events changed my life. Ask me about it.
