I am a partner, parent, poet, and purser. We are building a retreat in the SE Alaska wilderness, slightly off the grid and living in turn with the seasons. I am at sea, working for the Alaska Marine Highway System (http://www.ferryalaska.com), much of the time. Nevertheless, at Care2 I am trying to weave a web of friends whose compassionate response to the universe remains firm against the conservative, anti-planetary hegemony of these times...a web I am able to draw upon for nurture and strength as I travel the North Pacific coastline.

Dr. Zhivago, the novel and the movie made from it changed my life because in Yuri Zhivago, I met a being human who believed as I do and lived as his conscience bade him live.
