About Me	Hard bitten,snarling romantic.I completely lack tact and diplomacy.I like to speak from the heart.Blue collar background,over educated,lover of football..the round ball version (love Man City FC),beleiver in the idea that equality,means everyone..can't get my head around the fact that more people don't see the rich and powerful pulling the levers and controlling our societies. I strongly beleive that the real values of socialism,have been misrepresented in America,and across the world.To me socialism means,putting communities,before markets,each person having the opportunity to develop and acheive their potential,a health and welfare system based on need,an end to corporations dehumanizing people,for the profit motive,input from all workers,within their organisations,and a fair distribution of resources,to each,and every person . Democracy is the most important word of all ,for it means,that our governments are controlled by us,and as a result the needs of the many,come before the greed of the few. From community,must spring individualism,as each person,regardless of race,gender,sexuality,disability etc,chooses their own path and identity.This individualism ,is boundaried only by the need to safeguard the rights of others,the rights of animals,and the sustainability and beauty of the planet. If I have,a vision of what i'd like that society to look like,the closest would be post-war ,social-democratic Sweden,with it's market socialism.Though,with what we know,we can aim higher. Human interference ,in the animal world,has to be rolled back.I would like to see huge areas, of wilderness,where animals can live without being affected by logging,human expansion,or environmental decay/ruin. Animal experiment's are brutal,unnecessary and counter productive..they must be stopped.As someone who beleives ,in the values of the enlightenment,and the scientific method,I can find no justification for such vile abuse. The law must be tightened up,and enforced in all cases, of proven cruelty against animals. Hopefully,we can move to an enlightened society,where all people can be educated, in understanding ourselves,animals,nature and our human co-existence with ,and not dominance of nature. I can't see this happening, whilst society is ruled, by those,whose desire is merely the accumalation of profit,power and wealth. There is though,no point,in merely replacing this personnel,it is the system that is the problem. Please ,look up The Kronstadt Rebellion,this was a revolt in newly Soviet Russia,conducted against the Bolsheviks.The Kronstadt sailors ,and the real socialists were attacked,killed,jailed and silenced by the brutalist Bolsheviks.When The Kronstadt Rebellion was defeated in 1923,the democratic socialist cause, suffered it's biggest ever setback.Individually speaking it's all been an occasionally glorious ,but honest mess..and it may be that way till the end. Hey up some of these bits on here,should have gone under 'my philosophy'..ah well.

My Philosophy	I guess that in North America,id be called an ultra-liberal,but I think democratic-socialist sums me up far better..Real change means redistribution of wealth, and power.The best deal for the greatest number,is the aim.The best current model of society is probably Scandanavian.With publically funded health/welfare,and fairer wealth distribution..Don't ever presume,that because I am a socialist,that I support Josef Stalin..or Mao.It is right wing propagandist bull,to conflate democratic socialism with those states.The lazy parasitical rich are also beneath contempt. Patriotism means,seeking the best for all citizen's of your country,and reaching out to people across the world. I have more in common with a nurse in Cuba,than with Prince Charles or Tony Bliar.I do love my country though,and am very English.To me Britain at it's best is the nazi-fighting,welfare state loving,animal loving,tolerant society. Britain at it's worst was/is colonialist,deferential,and very ignorant. We must resist all attempts by Rupert Murdoch and his ilk ,to screw up our countries.
What Gives Me Hope	Hugo Chavez to some degree,but not the undemocratic elements about him.In fairness he has undemocratic elements allied against him,as seen in the failed US sponsored coup. The point is that ,there is an alternative to the present system.Decent people give me hope.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by	Jail Rupert Murdoch and George W Bush.Make democracy more than a word,spread the wealth,ditch nuclear weapons,make fighting environmental disaster the first priority.Introduce a minimum,and maximum wage..ban factory farming,and put an end to globalisation,and end slavery.
What/who changed my life and why	Jimmy Grimble..its about a triumph of good over evil (im exaggerating,its about football really..the mighty Man City fc vs the darkside of Man Utd.Its inspiring).

Alice D. (1391)	November 17, 18 - Leonids Meteor Shower. The Leonids is one of the better meteor showers to observe, producing an average of 40 meteors per hour at their peak. The shower itself has a cyclic peak year every 33 years where hundreds of meteors can be seen each hour. The last of these occurred in 2001. The shower peaks this year on November 17 & 18, but you can usually see some meteors from November 13 - 20. The moon will be totally out of the way this year, providing an exceptional viewing experience for the Leonids. Look for the shower radiating from the constellation Leo after midnight.
