very passionate...strong feelings for the welfare of animals and our world. My greatest weakness is public speaking (unfortunately) and finding a focus. Oh, and I HATE seeing roadkill.
Although it is very difficult in a material/capitalist world..I try to tread lightly, watch where I purchase things..who they are made by and if they were tested on animals etc...and thank mother earth each day for being part of the web of life.
What Gives Me Hope
honestly...waking up in the morning with the sun and birds singing..greeting the day. Then as it goes on it gets harder (media, money,jobs,b.s.) then the sunset is like the sunrise, beautiful and a reminder that being alive is truly wonderful..putting all the daily struggles aside.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by
stop animal cruelty of all forms and save our earth from the destruction that is going on. HUge political change..no more two party system. There would be huge profit and incentive to be environmentally friendly companies and to use renewable energy resource. People would be rewarded (tax breaks etc.) for recycling, planting native trees, cleaning up roadsides, conserving water, growing organic foods..and on and on. We would no longer build out in cities...we would build up, no more sprawl. Oh, and you pay dearly for animal abuse and polluting. Legalize drugs and save prisons for dangerous people.

"Do you realize that direct encounter has been almost entirely eliminated from our lives, especially fromthe learning process? Do you realize how much this has cost us? We become the passive receptacles of secondhand descriptions and simulated displays and depictions- something like computers except not quite so efficient. And we wonder what's happening to empathy" (doug boyd) "We take these good, smart animals and put them in a house and then wonder why they keep on doing the stuff that made them happy for a million years. A dog can't think that much about what he's doiing, he just does what feels right". "Loyd" from Barbara Kingsolvers (Animal Dreams)
"Congress is always willing to appropriate money for more and bigger paved roads, anywhere- particularly if they form loops. Loop drives are extremely popular with the petroleum industry- they bring the motorist right back to the same gas station from which he started." (Ed Abbey)
"I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightned of the old ones." (John CAge)
"As we destroy that which is natural, we eat ourselves alive
"There's never been a good government" Emma Goldman
"I love the land-it's great rivers, plains, mountains, and the uneffable desert; I love my friends, my kin, my unknown allies- I will stand by them to the end.
But for the cities, for our schools and churches and industries, for the government, for the meaningless documents embalmed of the past, for the mass of hucksters and enterprisers-no love. Fuck them. No loyalty. I will not defend them."
-Edward Abbey "Confessions of a Barbarian"
