As a Girl Scout leader and an activist for the rights of children, sometimes I ask myself, "Why am I doing THIS?" A fellow Girl Scout leader presented the following at a recent leaders meeting...and it answers that question for me. My hope is that it might be helpful to others as well...
I am not doing this for the easy hours, high pay, parents gratitude, power or prestige.
I want the world for your children and mine, a world where they can share and help to share; a world of love & laughter where they can show compassion.
I want them to look at the stars, a sunrise, a sunset, the work and world of people and feel the beauty inside themselves.
I want to help them learn to finish anthing they start and do it well and guard their worth with a deeper understanding of themselves.
In giving of myself and my time, I reap rewards far beyond what I give. I receive for my children and future generations, a better world.
I am doing this because I care. And so, to all of YOU, because you care - THANK YOU. You may not see it today, but know this YOU make a difference.

When autumn comes, The days grow crisp as apples, And placid lakes reflect the clear, blue sky Where geese are southward-bound in v-formation Emitting joyful noises as they fly.
When autumn comes, The trees are multicolored, And dew-kissed pumpkins glisten in the sun While resting on the ground by shocks and haystacks Where, after school, the kids have lots of fun.
When autumn comes, The rising moon seems larger To lovers who go strolling in the night. The breeze is mild and has a spicy odor When peaceful autumn comes, The world feels right!
