What Gives Me Hope Things that give me hope would include stories I hear of love that has lasted the storms of life (such as my former neighbors who I visited recently who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Spring of 2011), animals, nerdlove, Nerdfighters, Winter, snow, rain, storms, flowers, friends, smart children, well-behaved children...
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by I actually have a lot of plans for what I would do as Mayor, President, etc.:

If I were Mayor I would personally get more involved with education and try to fix some of the growing problems that people are causing. I would start with a child reading program I think would really help, if it was working I'd hope it would spread too more areas as well. (I would work my way up from there, lots of fixing up parks and schools... cleaning up a bit. But I think children reading is one of the most important things I could help with.)

If I were President though... I would first attempt* to legalize same-sex marriage throughout the nation as a whole and try to stomp out all the horrible injustices still happening in our LGBT community. Either that or I would try to work harder on regulating the rates on student loans. It causes more and more people every year to not further their education, which is aiding in completely destroying our economy even more.
(I say "attempt" because I realize that the President cannot freely do as he or she pleases, it has to be approved first and during that process it is usually warped and manipulated from the original idea...)
