About Me |
We are youth volunteers developing the new Bryan Park in Downsville, LA and working under AmeriCorps and WIA to preserve a lush, natural woodland for people to enjoy for many, many years to come. We are passionate about educating others about "green" and healthy living, as well as environmental stewardship. |

Wild Fact About Me |
We wield machetes to clear brush for hiking trails, sometimes from dawn till dusk. For fun we pick wild strawberries, blackberries and huckleberries around the park to bake delicious berry cobblers! |
My Philosophy |
Work as hard as you can to make a positive difference in someone else's life and leave the world in better condition than you found it. |
What Gives Me Hope |
Seeing a child's face light up when she spots a fawn crouched behind a log keeps us motivated and fills us with hope. We are adamant about preserving the forest's wonders for people to enjoy. The beauty of mother earth, in all her natural splendor, far exceeds any synthetic or virtual reality on a television or computer screen. |

Ensure that parks and wildlife conservation groups had adequate resources to continue to preserve our planet's greatest treasures; Encourage more involvement in "green living," including reducing, reusing and recycling waste; Fund more wildlife conservation projects, particularly for depleting habitats like the Louisiana Wetlands; Combat deforestation, arson, pollution, etc. |
What/who changed my life and why |
Shelby McDuff (wrote the grant that ultimately led to the development of Bryan Park); Bill Bryan (who donated the land for the park grounds); Jeff Bryan (who oversees the physical work on the park grounds, including building structures and clearing trails) |
