I am not a member of the NRA.

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat.

I hunt only with a camera.

I am not a "gun nut".

In 23 years as a police officer I never shot anyone.

I do support every American's right to defend themselves and others.

I do carry a legal concealed weapon.

I do support our Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

If you favor a gun ban in the USA, do not bother to ask me to be your friend on Care2.

If you believe that the "Gun Control" attempts are intended to ultimately do less than disarm all American citizens then you are not paying attention. None of the proposed gun control laws are directed at criminals in any way.

If you want gun owner support of laws that might lessen gun violence, take actions that target CRIMINALS and not law abiding citizens.

Agree to more taxes to keep criminals locked up.

Get rid of plea bargains for violent offenders.

Increase penalties for crimes committed with ANY weapon.

Make changes that affect the CRIMINALS, and not the law abiding person that might have saved your life if he still had his or her firearm.

Give criminals an incentive to avoid firearms like the plague by making use of them to commit any crime punishable by 25+ years in prison. No plea bargain, no deals, no exception.

Make this apply to stealing firearms as well.

All of you who mistakenly believe that taking firearms rights away has any effect on stopping crime may soon get to see your error as a burglary occurs once every 14.6 seconds in the USA . Criminals steal guns, or buy them from illegal sources, not from legitimate dealers. They will not be subject to background checks or any other new addition you make to current gun laws. Criminal do not follow laws!

I took this picture after searching the area in reference to a homicide. I made a lot of noise during the search so as not to surprise any large wildlife.

I was perhaps a bit closer than I should have been, but when this bear realized I was there, he left.

I took this picture south of Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River.

I made this picture using a combination of artwork and photo manipulation.

I do support the right to to own and carry arms for self defense, and I realize that some may un-friend me over that. I am not a gun fanatic. I do not "shoot at everything in sight". I try to stay proficient with those weapons I own. I hunt only with a camera.

About Me	I am generally gentle, friendly, and intelligent, always protective. I have always sought to protect those that cannot protect themselves.Twice wed, once divorced, now separated. I am mixed-blood Native American and Caucasian. I was raised as a Service Brat in the US and Europe. I have lived on my Native ancestors' Reservation in Washington for most of the last 38 years. Until I was 16, I was small for my age and so got to meet seemingly every bully in every school I attended. I feared that I would not be as tall as my 5'4" mother. At 16 I shot up. I was 6' by the start of my senior year and eventually reached 6'2". I am a retired police detective, so am skeptical of much and trusting of few. I believe in our US Constitution, including the 2nd amendment. I carry a gun for defensive purposes as I am too mobility disabled to fight anymore and most of the people I ever dealt with as a police officer know where I live. Mind you, I had a total of maybe six fights while making arrests and only had my side arm drawn three times (other than building searches and the range) in over 20 years. I believe that everyone should learn at least basic self defense. A pair of Jehovah's Witnesses once came to my home as I was cleaning a pistol. They were looking at my martial arts weapons collection and started in about violence generally. I told them simply," some of us have to protect the sheep from the predators or there will be no more sheep". That was years before I put on the badge but may provide some insight as to why I did put it on. I do not begrudge anyone their religion, but I do not want to be preached to. I attended "Sunday School" until after my 12th birthday and learned the bible. I have also studied other religions and mythologies. Even as a child I asked questions of chaplains and preachers about discrepancies in the Good Book. Too many times I was met with, " You just have to have FAITH." I learned that was their answer to anything they did not know or understand. I seek not to offend anyone for their religion as I do believe in or country's often mentioned right to religious freedom, which includes the right to be free from religion. That said, I am not an atheist. Deist is the closest I can get to what I believe. I have seen some things that lead me to think that there may be something to reincarnation. There is also evidence that the ancient Sumerians had a direct interaction with their "Gods" and that this interaction may have led to many of the "mythologies' of latter Europe and Asia.Whether deities, angels, or aliens, they seem to have set the stage for the religions of the world. Much of what I was taught in school has been overturned, undone, or rewritten as our science improves and we start learning history from the perspective of the conquered peoples and not just the victors.
