I am a great fan of animals both wild and domestic and cry whenever I read about or watch a program where ones have been abused or hurt. Matter of fact, it's very hard for me to even look at a suffering animal, though I know my not facing it doesn't make the cruelties end. If only it were that easy!
Growing up, I was often at an uncle's farm and grew to love the mix of animals he had and was unfortunately exposed to some of the harsher realities of farm life, too, but not cruelty and neglect like you see on mass market farms. I would love to see an end to those places. Not only are they terrible for the cattle and poultry they contribute massive amounts of waste year after year and most of which are not being recycled.
Besides domestic conservation, conserving our planet's resources and wildlife is also dear to my heart. Our ocean's are growing warmer every year and just today another HUGE piece of Antarctic ice broke loose. Story here
. This has long-reaching effects on the Arctic and the rest of the globe. Polar bears are losing their hunting grounds, seals their birthing grounds and so it trickles down and is felt by the Alaskan fishers and our North American bears, and we're just a small fragment of our world.
It is my fervent hope that each of us will do his and her part to help preserve this planet and her many, many wonderful denizens through using alternative sources of energy, recycling, conservation of our rain forests and take back our thousands of acres of land from mass market meat farming corporations and grow vegetables instead - let's preserve and heal the Earth for our children's children before it's too late.
