Currently working at Oso Creek Trail -- Celebration Garden, Mission Viejo, CA.
Creating final pillar in series of 10 along a mosaic-tiled path which mirrors the creek below. The final pillar pays homage to the Gabrieleno, Chumash, Kumiyay, Tongva and other local tribes which inhabited the area.
Pictures will soon be posted.
This project is part of Mission Viejo's annual celebration of arbor day/earth day. Each year, they've added public art installations to the 5.5 plus miles of trail and planted native shrubs, flowers and other plants along the creek side trails.
I wish more cities would do something like this. It doesn't cost as much as one would think...many local businesses donate materials, supplies and plants for the endeavor, and it's all installed by volunteers and artists.
"You see that pale, blue dot? That's us. Everything that has ever happened in all of human history, has happened on that pixel. All the triumphs and all the tragedies, all the wars all the famines, all the major advances.....it's our only home. And that is what is at stake, our ability to live on planet Earth, to have a future as a civilization. I believe this is a moral issue, it is your time to cease this issue, it is our time to rise again to secure our future."
