There are so many deserving causes out there and one can get easily overwhelmed with where to start, what to do, and how to play a part. Especially with the limited resources of one individual or family unit.
While my life has been sheltered from many of the trials others face every day, one cause that always tugged at my heart was the plight of loyal animal companions who were let go by their families, without knowing why and with a chance of losing their lives as a result. This seemed so unfair to me, especially since they often were blameless in arriving at their plight and there was no guarantee they would ever find another home.
Enter the internet. One affirmation the internet can proudly boast is the ability to increase awareness of any cause, and reach more people than ever before. As a website developer and long time dog lover, I chose to unite these two in creating RescueDirectory.com.
I have been tying the internet to homeless animals since 2000 in various ways, making it easy for people to be involved and help others. In fact I’m compelled to do so, not unlike Noah, who was compelled to build the arc. I feel strongly about so many causes, but to help keep my sanity I chose one -- animal rescue -- on which to focus my efforts.
Since 2000, I know I have helped make many adoptions happen, but there’s no way to know even an estimated number. I do know that new visitors find our website every day, and the impact of our site is growing.
Whether you visit RescueDirectory.com to adopt, to join, to link or to give, we welcome your company.
