For the second time I tookpart of this protest.
All these pictures are taken on 4 and 5 and 6 th of July by the Peta organised Running of the Nudes to stop the BLOODY BULLFIGHT and the cruel BULLRACE. This year a coach left with activists from The Netherlands and Belgium. I travelled for 25 hours.
Last year 600 people joined the Running of the Nudes to protest this extreem cruelty and torture, this year 1500 people from all around the world attended! There were coaches from The Netherlands,Germany,United Kingdom,Belgium,France,Spain,Portugal,Danmark,Italy,Croatia but also people from all places of the world joined this protest.I did have many people sponsoring me,so I could attend this protest again.
This year was different then last year, we started by the corrall....it was disgusting to see family's with young children and grandparents with thier grandchildren,to go to the stables, adults pay 3 euro's ( children under 12 for free...they are the future bullfight watchers and being brainwashed already....) to peek through holes to see the bulls who will be tortured. We stayed by the entrance and just got in the way to discourage people to go in.And to give their money to support this cruelty. We were getting ready for the Running of the Nudes....
When the run started and the drums begon,it was very hard to compose my self....the knowledge that these poor bulls were so near me,the horror and torture that lies ahead of them, all the unusual noise for the bulls what might frighten them, all together made that I couldnt keep my tears in.....(last year I succeded, this year not) I tried very hard to focus and do the run with no more tears. It was so heartbreaking to know those animals in those stables...the suffering and torture in two days time, and nothing able to stop it and safe them....
Any way,the rest of the running of the nudes went well, although we weren't allowed to go naked. We had a lovely coachdriver who took us the next day on a nice drive so we could visit a castle and see the beauty of the countryside. And that is beautiful! I needed that to take my mind of things.....
The very next morning I woke early,of course imediatly realizing that it was the day of the first bullrun.....
I took a long shower and tried to wash that horrible feeling about it of me....I cam out and bumped into my friend Marjolein, she was on her way to the campsite shop to get some bread, and if I wanted to walk up with her, good plan I thought,as my hair was wet and it could dry.I thought it was after 8.30 and the run already had taken place....( last year we left before the bullrun) we walked past the bar and there was lots of noise....we walked in....the bull run LIVE on tv on the main national tv channel.....I didnt want to look but couldn't stop.....just sheer horror I saw, 3 man beating a bull who fell down with large wooden sticks and pulling his tail....( they only suppose to have a rolled up newspaper) iw as so shocked and also about all the people just watching it like
normal entertainment.....I wanted to shout something nasty to them, but I don't speak Spanish....I run out crying and felt nausious by what ive seen, and anger....
I was waiting outside for my friend a Spanish lady saw me cry and came over the me,saying something in Spanish to me.
With hand and feet she asked mee if it was what was on tv what made me cry and i said :Si. And she explained to me she is against it and that is is so wrong. She put an arm
around me to comfort me and asked if I wanted a glass of water. It was so good to know that there are local people who are disgusted with the whole thing too.Two hours ago I arrived home and feel not only fysical tired from the coachtrip, but more then anything, emotionally drained.
But i will go as long as it takes and do what is within my power to stop this torture, until my last breath.....but I guess thats the strenght of a Taurus :)
