Guillermo Vargas, the so called artist from Costa Rica, has been chosen to represent his country in the "Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008" and for that I am outraged. That Costa Rica sends this inhumane sadist to represent their country, is beyond all comprehension. Haven’t they got any true artist? Everyone remembers what Vargas did in August 2007 in Managua, Nicaragua: he took the starving dog Natividad from the street and put him in a gallery as a work of art. He tied the dog in a corner of the salon, left to die. Vargas and the gallery are now saying that it was their intention to pull of a stunt by showing how a starving dog suddenly becomes the centre of attention when it is in a gallery, but not when it is on the street and to expose people for what they really are: "hyprocritical sheep" and that Natividad would have died of natural causes anyway. It seems to me, that this statement is totally beside the point. Vargas, the gallery and all the visitors who didn’t do a thing to end the suffering of Natividad, are all guilty of animal abuse. This sick ‘stunt’ goes now around the world as a ‘hoax’. I still am very angry and I think my initial feelings won’t change.
