Beeches are the most common tree in Slovenia apart of spruces. Yet they appear in many varieties and their richness in shapes and bark and foliage color through them and during the year seasons is incredible. There is nothing more green in this world than their late April or early May foliage, nothing more silver than their bark in cool autumn light, and nothing displays a greater contrast than their black wet bark enchained in crystal icy harness during the winter.
