Mister McDonald also checked to see how well the Hippiefest crowd could spell. He shouted: "Give me an F!" To which we responded with "F!!" Give me a U!," Joe continued. So we did. And, we also gave him a "C" and a "K," too. "What does that spell?" he quizzed. We answered correctly. "What does that spell?" he asked, apparently not hearing us the first time. Once more, we asserted our reply. And, soon, he insisted, and we complied, that we repeat our result a third time, after which, Country Joe stated: "And, they say people in this country are illiterate."
